South China Agricultural University is a national key university and a “211 Project” university. The campus is located in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province and covers an area of 8,250 acres. The school has a complete range of subjects, including 88 undergraduate majors, 12 doctoral degree-awarded first-level disciplines, 23 master's degree-awarded first-level disciplines, 45 doctoral degree authorization points, 117 master degree authorization points, and 5 national key disciplines. There are 1 national key disciplines in agricultural mechanization engineering, 5 key disciplines in the Ministry of Agriculture, 12 first-level key disciplines in Guangdong, 4 key disciplines in Guangdong, and 1 key discipline in the State Forestry Administration. The school has good conditions for conducting scientific research. There are 3 national scientific research platforms, 11 postdoctoral scientific research stations, 8 key professional laboratories of the Ministry of Agriculture, 3 scientific observing laboratories of the Ministry of Agriculture, 2 key laboratories of the Ministry of Education and 10 key laboratories of Guangdong Province. There are 3 Engineering Research Centers of the Ministry of Education, 8 demonstration bases for integration of production, study and research in Guangdong Province, and 2 key research bases for humanities and social sciences in Guangdong Province. The school actively engages in foreign exchanges and cooperation. It has established inter-college links with 72 universities in 25 countries on five continents, and has carried out various forms of undergraduate and postgraduate joint training and holiday exchange programs; and academics from some universities in Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan regions. Exchanges are also growing. Every year, a large number of scholars from outside the country come to the school for exchanges and lectures. Schools have sent a large number of key teachers to the country (outside) to pursue advanced studies for degree or scientific research cooperation. The United Nations Development Program (UNDP), FAO (FAO) and the World Food Council (WFC) successively established the Asia-Pacific Sericulture Training Center and the China International Agricultural Training Center in our school.
